TIL - there are Jalops who don't like the 650S's (re)design

I’m still not sure that this isn’t part of an elaborate hoax and I just missed out on the setup. (No, really, are you actually serious Swedes?). And part of the argument is that the front looks identical to the P1 (which, uh... yeah, clearly that’s a terrible vehicle to model your visual styling guidelines by).

I guess I’m just quite confused here.

I am one such Jalop. The MP4-12C was a good looking car all-around. Nothing they’ve done since has been. Also, as a side note, I’m very glad to know that I’m not the only one who thinks that Marek Reichmann egregiously screwed over the looks of the Rapide.

I like it. Although the issue a lot of people have with it is that it looks too much like the P1, so people confuse the cars. And people don’t buy a supercar to have it confused with something lesser.

Nah, see, this is where opinions, and thus, Oppo, is a lot of fun. I can disagree with pauljones opinions all I want and feel ok. It’s when I disagree with him on anything deeper than opinions that I may as well call it quits. =)

I fully agree, I think super cars should look batshit insane. Lambo seems to have a really good understating of this, McLaren does not.

Strange. I prefer the 650S. But I have pretty weird taste in a lot of things. And don’t get me started on the Rapide from concept to what it became.

Eh, I’m weird, too. I seem to be about the only person on the planet who thinks 458 and its successor are horrifyingly, heinously, hideously ugly. Our excellent taste in beers and other aspects of life, however, more than make up for such little oddities.

The 458 is appreciated only in regard to (what I have to imagine/hope is) its application of function over form. It performs like a bat out of hell. And looks like one too.

I am not one such jalop.

I liked the 12C’s shape overall, but felt the front was a bit bland. IMO the 650S and all subsequent McLarens look much better.

The 650S looks better in real life than pictures, and I think it looks decent, but the front of the 12C is probably a little bit more graceful. Looks wise, I’d probably have to go with the 12C, but the improvements they made when they rolled out the 650S make it the better car.

Porsche is different because it’s practically the same look with subtle changes for the past however many years. Lamborghini gets the same insults which is when they resort to their batshit crazy origins and then make one offs like the Veneno and Egoista.

Nope, I fully agree the 650S is uglier. The P1’s face works, and works well. It doesn’t work as well on the 12C, especially because the rear is still made for the 12C’s front. Idk, 12C looked better.
